Where are We Going? Country of Tanzania

Village of Itungi (Where our partner congregation is located.)
Our Hosts: Don and Eunice Fultz, Synod Missionaries who spend half the
year each year
in Tanzania fostering our Synod's partnership with the Iringa Diocese of the
Evangelical Lutheran Church in Tanzania.
Who will visit? Church members Dick, Zarida, Marty, Ann and Tom
What will they see?
- Our Partner Congregation In the village of Itunge with seven preaching points
in surrounding villages.
- The Ilula Health Clinic A partnership with Global Health Ministries, the
Ilula Clinic is currently
under expansion into a hospital with more beds and expanded treatment facilities.
- The Secondary School Where we currently support seven student At Pommern
scholarships for young women.
- The Secondary School Currently being expanded by one form or At Image grade
level per year.
- The Orphanage in The Huruma Center currently houses 30 Iringa children in
Iringa
- Tumaini University In Iringa, which also houses the Seminary where we support
one woman student,
Helena Chuma now working on her Bachelors of Divinity Degree.
- St. Paul Partners Well- Numerous wells are being dug and Drilling Project,
maintained with the help
of this St. Paul partnership. We will document water sources in Iringa and the
surrounding preaching
points, noting equipment in use and possibly collecting water samples for testing.
- The Ruaha Game Preserve For the "African Experience" we will visit
the game preserve west of Iringa.
Johannesburg, South Africa Our flight to Dar Es Salaam, Tanzania, will take
us through Johannesburg, where we will spend a day as tourists.
Why are we going?
- To build relationships with the people who are part of our partner congregaton,
and the many partner ministries that we support.
- To help decide which ministries we want to support in future initiatives.
- To develop a stronger missions-support community in this congregation.
What will happen after this group returns?
In the short term, teaching and education about our experiences there as well
as some development
and fund-raising directed toward those ministries that we decide to commit to.
In the long term,
another group will be sent in 2-3 years, and the proceeds of our mission development
fund will be
directed toward specific ministries.
