A little bit about me... I'm the son of a preacher man and a nurse. My dad, Bob Rusert, is an ELCA pastor, and my mom, Lori, is a post-delivery nurse. I have three siblings who have managed to spread themselves all over the country (Samara in Texas with her two daughters and husband, Marshall; Thomas in Philadelphia with his wife Abigail; and my sister Kaitlyn. My parents live in Big Lake, MN.
My growing up years were spent in Monticello-Big Lake. In 1990, our family began an ELCA mission start called Resurrection Lutheran Church. My siblings and I grew up settting up folding chairs in the cafeteria where we worshipped each Sunday. We were part of the community for nearly 20 years, and as it grew, we grew. After graduating from Monticello High School, I headed to Collegeville, MN, for my undergraduate degree. I spent four years at Saint John's University learning a new theology and meeting some lifelong friends (including my would be wife). After SJU, I moved to Uptown in Minneapolis and worked for five years as an Early Intervention Behavior Therapist for children with autism for Partners, Inc. In 2009, Patti and I were married, and six months later I began my seminary education at Luther. Currently, Patti and I live in our home in Como Park.
