Global Missions at CPLC

Global Mission Support is Como Park Lutheran Church's oldest and largest outreach ministry.  In recent years it has grown even larger than the combined various hunger ministries that make up another large part of our outreach ministries.  Member support for these combined ministries equals 15% or more of our offering receipts each year.

The first pastor called to Como Park Lutheran Church was the Reverend Carl Rasmussen, a former missionary to Madagascar.  His passion for outreach and mission shaped a mission culture that continues to this day.  Early on, the global missions work of the congregation was carried on by the women's groups and their connection with the missionary housing offered for furloughed missionary pastors at Luther Seminary.  Then beginning in the 1960s,  Pastor Leonard Jacobsen's ministry in Madagascar was a focus of fundraising and support for over 30 years.  Today, this congregation continues to support the churchwide ministry of Pastor Andrew Hinderlie in Antananarive, Madagascar.

But larger by far, are the ministries we support with our partner congregations in the village of Itungi, Tanzania and the Santa Amelia congregation in San Jose, Guatemala. For more on these ministries, please see the tabs for each one individually.
