Youth Ministries at Como Park Lutheran

The youth at Como Park Lutheran Church are active in many projects that involve a variety of ministries.

Sunday School and K - 5th Grade Ministry Projects
Youth ages 3rd grade and up went to Feed My Starving Children three times last year, and many parents and adults that did not have school age children joined in as well. In October, on the Sunday of MEA weekend (usually the third Sunday), the Sunday School youth and familes and other congregation members assemble Care Kits for the Homeless. The Mitten Tree project is undertaken after Christmas; donations of fleece are accepted for the project and hats, mittens and scarves are cut out by the youth and sewn by youth and adult volunteers. Items are donated to shelters, schools and other programs. In January and February, the youth make Valentines for the Seniors at Lyngblomsten, and during the Sunday School hour (the Sunday before Valentines Day) they will sing a few songs and deliver them to the residents during Lyngblomsten's Sunday worship hour.

Jr. and Sr. High Ministry Projects
In the month of November, the Jr. High youth sell paper hearts, that are displayed in the front window of the church, to raise money for the Hearts for PCYC (Plymouth Christian Youth Center) Christmas gift program. They buy gifts and donate them to PCYC, and the underpriviledged youth at PCYC buy them for a nominal amount for their families for Christmas. Jr. and Sr. High are involved in Service Day projects where members of the congregation can let the Youth Director know what they may need assistance with at their home (raking leaves, pulling weeds, cleaning the parking lot, and other projects at homes or on the church grounds).

As a service project, youth in 2nd - 12th grade serve at the Pie Social after Thanksgiving Eve Worship. The youth this age also earn money for Bible Camps and Mission Trips by working the Advent Dinner (first Saturday in Advent), Soup Suppers during Lent, and Easter Breakfast on Easter morning. The Jr. High youth take a Confirmation Trip and Sr. High youth go on a Mission Trip during the summer. Bible Camp at Camp Wapogasset in Amery, WI, is the first week of August each year.
