Volunteer Opportunities

There are many ways that you can volunteer in Sunday School! Please contact Jane Nelson, Sunday School Superintendent, if you would like to volunteer or would like more information.

  • Teachers and Helpers: This is a wonderful way to get to know our youth and their families. You follow our Sunday School curriculum and get guidance from our Sunday School Superintendent, Jane Nelson, and other teachers. If you would like to work as a team with someone, you may do so as well.
  • Music and the Christmas Program: If you would like to help with Sunday School music and/or the Christmas Program, there are a variety of ways that you can be involved.
  • Special Project Leaders: Sunday School does special projects throughout the school year. If you would like to organize and lead projects such as Mitten Tree, Advent Event, and Valentines for Lyngblomsten, then this is for you! Volunteers are also needed to help leaders on these projects.

Mitten Tree Project

The Mitten Tree Project is underway! Polar fleece hats and mittens are cut out and sewn by volunteers, then donated to schools and other organizations with needs for warm winter-wear. Look for kits, available at the Welcome Desk, to bring home and cut out and/or sew (return cutting kits and sewn kits back to the Welcome Desk as well). Donations of fleece will be greatly appreciated—there are great deals available on fleece right now! There is a bin in the narthex where you can drop your donations. Toni Bennett will oversee Mitten Tree this year; it will be an ongoing project so look for kits to be always available! If you have any questions, or you would like to help in any other capacity, please contact Toni at 651.633.2851.

Sunday School

Como Park Lutheran Church invites all children 3 years old (by August 31st, 2009) through 8th grade to join us for Sunday School! Come celebrate and  learn about your gift of faith in Jesus Christ. The children in pre-kindergarten will be learning through the Godly Play curriculum, while grades K-8 learn through the ecumenical, lectionary, art-based curriculum, Seasons of the Spirit. Sunday School also includes out-reach activities and music as we learn about Jesus, learn to know God and how we can love and serve others in His name. Come join your friends for fun, worship, fellowship, and service.

Sunday School starts on Rally Sunday, September 13, and is from 9:35-10:30am. Registration sheets are available on our web site or at the Welcome Desk. Call Jane Nelson, Sunday School Superintendent, at 651.484.7978 with any questions. Hope to see you in the fall--or at any time through-out the school year. You are always welcome!
