Confirmation

As our Confirmation handbook says, "In order to be confirmed, a person must be baptized.  He or she must complete a course of instruction in Christian faith and life, and must demonstrate his or her understanding and acceptance of basic Christian teachings.  At the time of Confirmation (The Evangelical Lutheran Worship book calls this rite 'The Affirmation of Baptism'), a Christian will publicly profess his or her faith and affirm the covenant made at her or his baptism."  Confirmation Ministries at Como Park Lutheran Church run from September of the 7th Grade year through Spring of the Ninth Grade Year.

Using a large-group/small-group presentation-discussion format our seventh and eighth graders spend one year of Wednesday evening classes on basic stories of the Bible, and one year on Catechism and Lutheranism.  In their ninth grade year, confirmands pursue a faith and mission formation curriculum as well as a mentor program.  In the spring of their ninth grade year they will participate in personal interviews with the Senior Pastor, and participate in the confirmation worship service on the first Sunday following Easter.  Service projects, campfires, and camp and wilderness opportunites are provided throughout the confirmation experience.  Non-member youth are welcome to participate in this experience with us.  Interested parents should call or email the office or Pastor Marty, and download the Confirmation Handbook.
